The Sheldon Jackson Museum will host an At Saxan Art Activity on Saturday, September 29th at 10am. During the September At Saxan, children ages 6-10 will make Alutiiq style masks and look at images of Alutiiq masks in the museum gallery. The masks will be made using paper, scissors, and colored pencils. To register your child, call (907) 747-8981
At Saxan traditionally happens one Saturday of the month in the fall, winter and spring and is family-friendly, free of charge, and sponsored by the Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum. During these At Saxan events, children ages 6-10 make some sort of a craft or work of art and learn about Alaska Native cultures and peoples. Frequently, At Saxan participants look for specific kinds of artifacts in the gallery.
The Sheldon Jackson Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. Admission will be waived for the At Saxan Art Activity. Please call (907) 747-8981 with any questions about the museum’s programming.
