Setting up your own Table of Contents Alerts: Set up at JournalTOCs

Pros and Conse of JournalTOCs

Pros:  It is very easy to set up TOC alerts through JournalTOCs, and you can set up alerts for many different journals and publishers using your JournalTOCs account.

Cons:  JournalTOCs focuses primarily on academic journals, so you won't find many general interest periodicals here.  Plus JournalTOCs usually won't take you to full text articles.

How to set up a TOC Alert in JournalTOCs

JournalTOCs focuses on academic journals.  It is free to everyone and offers some TOCs not available through EBSCO, but you won't be able to link to full text articles in EBSCO databases through these TOCs.

STEP 1: Sign in with your JournalTOCs user name and password.  If you have not created a JournalTOCs account before, choose "Sign Up" to create an account.

STEP 2: Find and select the title in the JournalTOCs database.  Enter part of the title in the search box on the left side of the JournalTOCs home page.  A list of potential matches will appear on the left side of the screen.  Check the box(es) of the journal(s) you are interested in.

STEP 3: Verify.  Hover over your name in the upper right corner of the screen and select "Followed Journals."  Then make sure the "Email alerts is on" box is checked.
