Grants & Continuing Education Coordinator
What I Do
- Grants Coordinator:
- Manages the library grant programs of the State Library, including the public library assistance, interlibrary cooperation and continuing education/professional development grants
- Consults with librarians on funding sources and grant writing
- Serves as State Data Coordinator for Alaska’s public library statistics by managing the grant report system, reviewing and submitting Alaska statistics to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)
- Provides training to librarians on who to use their public library statistics for planning and marketing
- Compiles and submits the State Library’s statistics to IMLS
- Supports colleagues on Library Development team with their grant-funded project needs
- Continuing Education Coordinator
- Coordinate the biennial CE Statewide Survey
- Oversee the Alaska Library Association Scholarship and coordinate Continuing Education grants
- Develop monthly training webinars, workshops and online courses on topics of interest to public librarians
- Oversee Three Cities Tour training workshops in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau
- Lead the Small Library Insititute of Management week long training for new library directors
- Lead the Small Library Institute of Continuing Education leadership training for library directors
Resources
- Alaska's public libraries file an annual report each year with the Alaska State Library in order to remain eligible for the annual public library assistance grant. Excel or CSV files of the annual statistics going back to 1987 are available online.
