The Sheldon Jackson Museum is pleased to announce two upcoming events on Saturday, January 20th.  Both events are sponsored by the Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum and are free and open to the public.

The first event on Saturday, Jan. 20th, is an At Saxan Art Activity Making Walrus art. At Saxan happens every third Saturday during the fall and winter and is a free, family-friendly activity best for children ages 6-10. Please call (907) 747-8981 to register in advance.

The second public program on Sat., Jan. 20th is “Looking Back Takes Me Forward” Saturday, a presentation by Tlingit artist Jennifer Younger, happening from 2-3pm. Younger is a Tlingit artist of the Eagle Clan. She was raised in Yakutat and now resides in Sitka. As a working artist, Younger is “fulfilling [her] dream of pursuing something related to traditional Tlingit art, while having the freedom to express [her] own style.” In this presentation, she will discuss the ways in which she constantly looks to the past to learn, grow, and be inspired as she makes contemporary jewelry.
