In conjunction with the Alaska Positive exhibit at the Alaska State Museum
Saturday, January 25 from 1-3pm

Juneau Professional photographer Ben Huff will lead a free workshop for middle and high school students Saturday, January 25 from 1-3pm, at the Alaska State Museum, on how to think about telling stories through images, and how to make images of everyday life more compelling.

Participants will go on a photo-taking walk around downtown Juneau, then return to the classroom at the Alaska State Museum and, with  Ben Huff, learn how to sequence their photos into a piece of photographic art which tells a story.

Juneau photographer Ben Huff is a former Alaska Positive participant, and founder of local publishing company, Ice Fog Press.

Students will have the opportunity to view and be inspired by the Alaska Positive photography exhibit, which is currently on display at the Alaska State Museum through February 15th, 2020.  Alaska Positive is a biennial juried photography exhibit curated by the Alaska State Museum and was created to encourage photography as an art form in the state. This year’s top award, the Juror's Choice, went to Cody Swanson of Anchorage for a photograph titled Dipnetters.

This student workshop is partially funded by the citizens of the City and Borough of Juneau through sales tax revenues and is sponsored by the Friends of the Alaska State Library, Archives and Museum.
