Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum Annual Meeting to Feature Preston Singletary

Preston Singletary (Photo courtesy of Preston Singletary Studio)On Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm, the Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum will host their Annual Meeting at Harrigan Centennial Hall and simultaneously on Zoom. This year, the Friends are proud to present guest speaker Preston Singletary (Tlingit).

Photo: Russell JohnsonSingletary is an internationally recognized artist working in glass who draws upon designs from his Tlingit cultural heritage.

According to his website: “The art of Preston Singletary has become synonymous with the relationship between European glass blowing traditions and Northwest Native art. His artworks feature themes of transformation, animal spirits and shamanism through elegant blown glass forms and mystical sand carved Tlingit designs.”

Singletary’s artworks are included in museum collections across the country. His most recent exhibition, Preston Singletary: Raven and the Box of Daylight, opens in late January at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC.

The Friends are so pleased to offer our community the opportunity to attend a presentation by this highly acclaimed artist. Please note that this event is free of charge, but in-person seating may be limited. All are welcome to join via Zoom.
