Juneau – The Alaska State Museum invites Alaska museums to apply for Grant-In-Aid funding. A total of $100,000 is available to help support projects related to collections, exhibits, education, outreach, and organizational development. GIA funds can be used to purchase supplies and equipment and pay for contractual services, personnel, or other items necessary to support or improve museum services and operations.
Eligible institutions are encouraged to apply for one of two grant programs. Mini grants of up to $2,000 enjoy an easy application process for museums with operating budgets under $100,000. Larger grants of up to $12,000 are available on a competitive basis. The application period opens April 1 with applications due June 1.
Awards will be made in July, and funds must be expended and reported on by June 30, 2024. Questions about the program can be directed to Mary Irvine, Statewide Services Curator at the Alaska State Museum, (907) 465-4811 or mary.irvine@alaska.gov
