Sheldon Jackson Museum Film Screening

The Sheldon Jackson Museum will screen the film Bowhead Hunting in the Arctic or the Cruise of the Whaler Herman on Saturday, January 18 at 2:30pm in the museum gallery. This silent film is being shown as part of the Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum Winter Film Series and follows a whaling crew on board the Herman captained by Norwegian-American Christian Theodore Pederson from San Francisco to the Arctic, with stops in Unalaska, St. Lawrence Island, King Island, and St. Michael, and features scenes of Alaska animals, interactions with Alaska Natives, and operations aboard the ship.

Winter hours at the Sheldon Jackson Museum 10a.m. to 4:00p.m, Tuesday through Saturday except holidays. Admission will be waived for this Friends-sponsored film screening, but in the winter, is usually is $5 for adults and $4 for seniors. Visitors 18 and under are admitted free of charge.
