The Alaska State Museum participates in Virtual First Friday

Juneau - The Alaska State Museum is participating in Virtual First Friday, organized by the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council.  In case you missed seeing this exhibit in person, Simply Big will be available online on the Alaska State Museum’s website beginning at 4:30 PM on October 2, 2020.

Simply Big is an exhibit of large format artworks from the Alaska State Museum collection made between 1970 and 2020 by renowned artists from around the state. This collection of artwork ranges in subject and media and includes works that have not been on exhibit before as well as recent acquisitions made possible by the Rasmuson Foundation.

A person experiencing a disability who needs accommodation for events hosted by the Alaska State Library, Archives, and Museum can contact the Division’s ADA coordinator at (907) 465 2912 a week in advance to make any necessary arrangements.

Summer hours, 12 p.m. noon to 4 p.m. For updated hours and to verify admission fees which will increase this fall visit, museums.alaska.gov. Summer admission is $7, with those age 18 and under admitted free.  An annual pass that allows unlimited visits to the Alaska State Museum and the Sheldon Jackson Museum in Sitka is available for $35.  Assistance is available for visitors who have special needs. Please contact visitor services at 465-2901 before the visit.
