Free Artist Talk with Artist-in-Residence Abel Ryan (Tsimshian)

The Sheldon Jackson Museum is pleased to announce that artist-in-residence Abel Ryan (Tsimshian) will give a talk entitled “Faces in Wood,” at the museum on Saturday, July 14th at 10:00 am. The talk and accompanying PowerPoint will offer an overview of the masks he has carved in the last 15 + years and the inspiration for some of his work.

Abel Ryan will be in residence until the end of the day on July 21st. The Native Artist Residency Program is made possible through the support of the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic (LEX-NG) Fund, Sitka Fine Arts Camp, Alaska Airlines, the Friends of the Sheldon Jackson Museum, and private donations.

Summer hours at the Sheldon Jackson Museum 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, Tuesday through Saturday. The museum is closed holidays. Summer admission is $7 for adults and $6 for seniors. Visitors 18 and under are admitted free of charge. Assistance is available for visitors with special needs. Please contact the museum for more information at 907.747.8981.
