PCA 46 Photos primarily concern Alaska railroads and aviation including planes, pilots (including Carl Ben Eielson, Joe and Marvel Crosson, Wiley Post and Will Rogers) accidents and airports around Alaska.

Most incidents and events in Alaska’s aviation history between 1929 and 1940 are covered in Jarman’s images. His detailed annotations include names of commercial and bush pilots and bush planes, World War II bombers, famous pilots and flights, passengers, aircraft information, airplane crashes, airlines, airports and hangars mainly around Southeast and remote Alaska.

MS 4-38-1 The Roy Jones Manuscript Collection contains newspaper and magazine articles by and about Roy Jones’ air service activities from 1922 to 1923; two typed autobiographical stories written by Jones, one story about his experiences as a pilot titled An Air Epic of Alaska, and one story about fishing practices on an Alaskan halibut schooner in the early 1900’s titled Running the Square. Folder 2 contains 25 Black and white related photographs of Roy Jones and his flying boat.

PCA 332 The images document Captain Kaufman’s life as a pilot in the Air Force during the 1940s in Alaska and Europe. Some of the images may have been taken after he left the service.

PCA 553 Photographs from early to mid 20th century of various airlines and airplanes from throughout Alaska.

PCA 396 The photographs taken by Mohr, primarily depict military life in the Juneau area in the early 1940’s while he was serving with the Alaskan Defense. Photographs include views of the Mendenhall Glacier, Auke Lake, military aircraft, and the Juneau airport.

PCA 441 The photographs were taken by Lee Lucas who worked with Robert Fleek at the Supply Quonset in Juneau. Lucas previously had worked as a professional photographer for Ordway and Lu-Eck. Photos include buildings, personnel, aircraft, aerials, and activities at the Naknek Air Base in 1944.

MS 231 Materials in the collection include letters, pamphlets, clippings, and records primarily related to aviation history and maritime activity in Alaska, particularly the Southeast region.

MS 144 The papers reflect the life of Sheldon B. Simmons as an Alaska bush pilot and aviation enthusiast, and cover the period from circa 1929-1993. They include pilot log books from 1929-1958, correspondence sent and received, an examiner’s report including a list of applications by air carriers, membership and other certificates, passports, commercial licenses, brochures, and business records for Alaska Air Transport, Inc., Marine Airways, and Alaska Coastal Ellis Airlines which later became Alaska Coastal Airways, business records

PCA 356 Photographs cover the subjects of Alaska aeronautics, the history of Alaska Airlines and Alaska Air Transport, Inc., bush pilots of Alaska, accidents.

PCA 51 Photographs used by Western Airlines to promote travel to Alaska. Included are airplanes, from the 1920s to the 1960s.

PCA 205 Many of the views in this collection were used to illustrate Sam White’s story of his work in Alaska; serialized in the ALASKA SPORTSMAN magazine from December 1964 through November 1965. Most depict airplanes and villages in interior Alaska. Subjects include Alaska Game Commission personnel and offices, airplane crashes, the Wien brothers (Merrill, Sig and Noel), and localities, such as Ft. Yukon and Tonzana.

MS 44 The audio tapes provide accounts of 15 persons involved in Alaska's aviation history as bush pilots, airline owners; also includes American and Japanese accounts of military aviation during World War II in Alaska.
