Alaska Job Centers

Alaska Job Centers provide the full spectrum of employment related labor exchange services including job search assistance, job referral, job placement assistance for job seekers, re-employment services to unemployment insurance claimants, and recruitment services for employers with job openings.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic Alaska Job Centers are currently closed. Job seekers are encouraged to access employment and training resources use the online resources available from www.jobs.alaska.gov or contact your local job center at (877) 724-2539 to speak to a representative.

Apprenticeships & Vocational Training

Alaska Department of Labor & Workforce Development Apprenticeships
Alaska apprenticeship programs are registered by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Apprenticeship. An apprentice in a registered program may receive up to six years of paid-on-the job and classroom training.
Alaska Technical Center, Kotzebue
The Alaska Technical Center was constructed in 1981 as an adult vocational/technical training school designed specifically to meet the workforce demands of rural Alaskans.
Alaska Vocational Technical Center
"The Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) is a vocational training center operated by the State of Alaska as a Division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Programs offered by AVTEC include Maritime Training Programs, Business and Office Technology, Culinary Arts, Construction Technology, Information Technology and more.

Ilisaġvik College
Iḷisaġvik College's Vocational Education and Workforce Development (VEWFD) program works with employers on the North Slope and beyond to offer students with training that will help them realize economic self-sufficiency and employment security.
Nine Star: Education & Employment Services
Nine Star's education services include GED preparation, technology and skills training and placement testing. Nine Star also provides job search assistance, professional development and career advising.
Southwest Alaska Vocational and Education Center
"Located in King Salmon, SAVEC is dedicated to providing skills training in some of the fastest-growing industries in the state. Working with a wide array of training partners, SAVEC can respond rapidly to industry & community needs by providing rapid response training.
