Grants for Alaska Libraries and Schools

The Alaska State Library helps public and school libraries acquire financial assistance.

Continuing Education (CE) Grants and Professional Development (PD) grants

Grants for Public, Public/School, School, and Academic library staff for continuing education opportunities to help enhance their professional development.

CE/PD reimbursement grants are now available on a first-come, first-served basis and are available one per library outlet.  There are currently six grants left for FY2026.

Grant Process

  1. Apply for a Grant (read guidelines and submit application).
  2. Receive Award Letter (grant not approved until you receive this).
  3. Attend Event (save all the necessary receipts or invoices).
  4. Request Reimbursement (submit reimbursement & final report form).
  5. Receive Reimbursement (your organization will receive the reimbursement by check or direct deposit).

*NOTE* Starting in 2025 the Alaska State Library will ask applicants to provide a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) with their CE/PD grant application to facilitate processing if the event happens to fall on or after the end of the current state fiscal year.  Most municipal, borough, school, or city organizations have a UEI.  Non-profits and other agencies without a UEI will need to register for a UEI through the SAM.gov website.  Find more information about registering on our UEI webpage: https://lam.alaska.gov/library-grants/UEI.
