Library Construction and Major Expansion Matching Grant
The primary objective of the Library Construction and Major Expansion Matching Grant Program is to provide communities with the financial assistance needed to help construct a public library or make a major expansion and associated renovations to an existing public library.

The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, Division of Community and Regional Affairs’ Grants Section manages the program under the provisions of the Alaska Statutes 14.56.355-14.56.356 and 3 AAC 198.010-900.

Public Library Construction Matrix

FY2021 Library Construction and Major Expansion Matching Grant Matrix
The "matrix" is 1-page document with information on major public library construction projects across the state and where they are at in terms of planning and funding. The matrix is updated annually by the Alaska Library Association's Public Libraries Roundtable, Chair.

Alaska Community Foundation
"The Alaska Community Foundation manages over 2,000 funds, including eleven Affiliates and five partner funds, with assets totaling over $165 million."
Alaska Federal Funding
"Previously alaskaarpa.org, this collaborative effort has expanded to cover the infrastructure package, and provides extensive summary of resources relevant to Alaskans, tracking funds coming in as well as grant opportunities. It serves as a clearinghouse of information that can be used by recipients and other potential beneficiaries."
Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program in Alaska
This program provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities-including libraries in rural areas. An essential community facility is defined as a facility that provides an essential service to the local community for the orderly development of the community in a primarily rural area, and does not include private, commercial or business undertakings.
