Cubelets Motivated Makers Pack is a great introduction to computational thinking. Computational thinking is a fancy term for the way computer scientists solve problems. It helps break down complex problems and find repeatable solutions. Cubelets make the principles of programming easy to learn and practice. Inside of each block is a part of a program – as you build your robot you build the code that controls its behavior. It’s hands-on coding! Ages 4-10+, for up to six student groups with up to 6 students each, with screen-free explorations.

Ozobot's Evo Classroom Kit, creates engaging, hands-on STEM learning, particularly in coding and critical thinking, and can be easily integrated into existing programs or as their own focused program. There is clear evidence of their effectiveness in boosting patron engagement and understanding through interactive activities and challenges. Grades K-12, with 12 robots, with screen-free and online coding options, and 700 free lessons.

Snap Circuits have been endorsed by educators globally as they use its curriculum-rich, full-color manuals to teach kids basic concepts in a fun and exciting way. Snap Circuits is used in schools, libraries, museums, afterschool and homeschool programs; STEAM and Maker programs, and at home. Educators also applaud Snap Circuits because it reinforces other important skills, such as small motor skills and reading. Grades 3-5, six student workbooks, Step-by-step curriculum and challenges, additional devices not required. Two kits are available for loan.

NASA@ My Library project developed by NASA, library staff, and partners increase and enhance NASA STEAM learning opportunities for youth. The Alaska State Library has two kits:

  1. Sun-Earth-Moon Connections
  2. Be a NASA Detective: Expanding Your Senses.

Visit NASA@ My Library STEAM Kits for more details.

Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries (SEAL) program provides safe solar viewing glasses and a solar science facilitation kit. A solar eclipse is not required to use this kit. The SEAL team also developed a wide suite of activities, handouts, and resources for informal educators. Contact us for more information.
