We are re-opening with everyone's safety in mind.

Bienvenu à notre groupe français! Nous rencontrons les vendredis parler en français (mais nous utilisons anglais quand nous ne comprenons pas les mots français - la conversation est la clé!).
As of 3/17/2020, our building is closed. We are currently doing French entirely online. If you'd like to join us from home, please complete a one-time registration using our French From Home form. You will be contacted with connection information.
The Alaska State Library French practice group meets every Friday at lunch, in the State Library, on the second floor of the Andrew P. Kashevaroff Building at 395 Whittier St. in Juneau. The meetings are 12-1, but you're welcome to come late or leave early if need be. The group works at the beginning level, but is open to all levels and to people statewide through phone or videoconference.
Not in Juneau? Alaskans are welcome to participate by phone or videoconferencing. If you want to participate remotely, please contact Freya using the contact info in the "Subject Guide" box on the right-hand side of the page.
The group is friendly and accepting of different skill levels: no tests or judgment here! However, it's a practice group, not a class, so it works best if you either have at least minimal experience with French, or supplement the meetings with independent work or a class.
Please send comments or questions about this practice group or this page to Freya using the contact information to your right.
Many foreign languages use different characters than we do in English. Here are some resources for accessing them from Windows or Mac machines.
